First Church Youth Group

Twice a month the Youth Group leads worship, usually at 5pm. This is an informal worship time with contemporary songs led by the Youth Band, and activity based worship

The First Church youth group meets each Friday night 6-8 pm in Burns Hall.

Generally a devotion, some activities, and a bite to eat. Some nights there will be activities off-site. All young people are welcome.

The youth leader is Ron Muliau o27 489 1770

MESSAGE FROM RONE MULIAU

Talofa, Kia orana and Greetings!!

On the 2nd of July I attended the Connect Conference for Youth Leaders in Waikanai, north of Wellington. It was my 2nd time since the last Conference in 2005 and it was amazing to see the same people who are still there in leadership from around the country. A great experience to see different characters, talents, worship and ideas during the weekend.
If there was one thing that stood out for me, it would be the many opportunities that are available for young people to spread the word of God in their given fields, whether it be in; Music, Drama, Ministry, Outreach, Theology etc.

During the School holidays, games and practises for Winton were held which kept the Youth busy during the time off School.

The Pacific Trust Otago games were held on the 15-16 of July with Netball and Volleyball. All teams did a great job participating, especially our High School Team that played in the High School final. Unfortunately they narrowly lost but they represented our Church really well.

On the same day as the Volleyball was being played, most of the Youth Group travelled down to Winton to be part of the Central Southland Youth Rally in which the Youth Band led the Praise and Worship (2nd year running) and the Youth sang a song and performed a dance. We left from the sports @ 3pm in 2 vans and a car with trailer. It was really encouraging to see the enthusiasm of the group especially after 2 days of non-stop sport.
A great evening service with our hosts as well as other groups and churches, really capped-off a long day for all. The next day after breakfast we cleaned our lovely house owned by a lovely couple, before showing our thanks to Rev. Tekura and Lindsay Wilding and their team. We sung a medley which was very emotional for most of us, as this time last year, our beloved Mamahere Taana was here on the same trip.
It was a great end to a busy, reflective, yet satisfying weekend, and even school holidays.

Thank you to the Church, parents, both Rev Tokerau and Rev. Anne and Ursula for their support.
And a BIG thank you to the Youth for their time, effort, energy and endless amount of laughter.
